Building "our house" was something we had been "planning" for a number of years.  A partial floor plan here, a picture of another room there, we had hundreds of ideas with no clue as to how to put it all together. 

We talked to a few builders whose work we respected, but we picked Steen Construction after an initial meeting with Jason Steen.  It was immediately clear that Jason was going to be focused on our priorities. 

Jason and Steen Construction were focused on our project from the start.  First, Jason helped us find someone to design the home who understood our preferences.  His commitment to our project was amazing.  He spent countless hours talking through different ideas, attending spec homes and the Parade of Homes in Minneapolis to see our likes and dislikes first hand, and discussing different approaches to make sure we would love the end product while spending our resources wisely. 

As the building project progressed, Jason and Steen Construction's dedication continued.  Jason had developed a clear understanding of our priorities and vision, but continued to weave his expertise in quality and efficiency into everything we did.   Additionally, Jason was able to make the process as stress free as possible; he accommodated our intermittent decision making (and re-decision making) and communicated with us each step of the way.  There were no surprises.  There was no pressure.  Additionally, Jason and his team of high-quality sub-contractors offered many suggestions throughout the process that we would not have seen or considered but made a significant difference in the final product.  Even now, after being in the house for over a year, Jason is readily available to answer questions and help us deal with any minor issues we run across (most of which are homeowner issues!).

There are a number of reasons why we are thankful we used Steen Construction for our project and why we would recommend them.  Probably the one that stands out most, however, is dedication.  Their dedication to our priorities, their dedication to using our resources wisely, their dedication to quality, and their dedication to our family I believe is unsurpassed.  The relationship with Steen Construction felt less like a business relationship and more like a project completed with a valued family friend.
