Our Founders
In 1991 Jason and Kari Steen founded Steen Construction as co-owners and operators of the now "SC Design/Build Construction Company". The custom home construction legacy and family business environment is now owned and operated by Matt Ness. Our entire SC design/build team continues to demonstrate the core values system formed by Jason and Kari, --that building relationships is essential in understanding and exceeding our clients custom home construction expectations.

Matt Ness
Owner -President
Project Manager
Matt has been with Steen Construction (SC Design-Build Construction Company) for several years. As the owner and manager of the sales team, his strong construction team leadership role as president and a project manager has him on-site every day. This fits perfectly with our practice to see that our clients get their projects done efficiently, timely, and on budget. With vested ownership in the company, Matt shines in his current role and builds every home with special attention to detail just as if it were his own.
Tia Gunderson
Office Manager
At Steen Construction, team-concept works well by utilizing each member’s talents to form a cohesive and strong team. Tia’s role as Office Manager is to keep the day to day, “behind the scenes” particulars moving seamlessly to accomplish timely and on-budget custom home projects.
As the most recent team member in the business, working as a family with the entire team at SC Design/Build Construction Company comes naturally. Tia continues to nurture the family feeling to the business, including all of our clients.
Justin Thiess
Sales / Estimating
Justin comes from a strong construction background with residential home construction experience in working closely for a number of years with draftsmen, estimating, construction material sales, handling, and estimating. He is a great asset to our team of construction professionals and craftsmen with experience building dream homes ranging from starter homes to vacation homes. We are a design/build construction company and crew, trained and skilled to include the eloquent details demanded stunning results in premier custom home design-build.
Jason Steen
C0-Founder / Design-Sales
As design-build contractors building custom homes, the details are the most important in the process. Jason designs and is in sales for the construction company with strong organizational skills. With years of passion for the construction industry and his continued leadership roles and experience as a founder since 1991, and until 2019 previous co-owner with SC Design/Build Construction Company. Jason continues doing what he enjoys in the home-building industry and you can be certain that Jason will get the job done according to your specifications.
